The Shepherd’s House

What is The Shepherd’s House?

The ministry of The Shepherd’s House began with the desire to care for the weary pastor by providing a place to retreat, encouraging a break from the demands of ministry. We are able to provide comfortable lodging at no cost, with the hope that a pastor will care for his own soul while away from home.

The Shepherd’s House has multiple locations across the country and even overseas! All locations provide a room for a pastor and his wife to stay up to two nights, but other amenities are unique to each location.

How can I book a stay at The Shepherd’s House?

Read more about each location to find which Shepherd’s House is best suited for you! Then, complete an application for our team to review. If approved for a visit, our staff will reach out to offer an official invitation.

While we cover the cost for lodging, you are to arrange and pay for your travel to and from The Shepherd’s House location
. You will also need to make plans for childcare, as all guests must be 18 years of age or older.

Can I book a stay for a large group?

If you are interested in renting lodging to host a group retreat for church elders or ministry staff, our Kentucky location is a great option. Please complete a group application, and we can provide more information about costs and amenities.

How can I support the ministry of The Shepherd’s House?

There are two primary ways anyone can help support this important work:

  1. Commit to praying for the pastors and pastor’s wives who have booked a stay at one of our locations. Pray that their time away would be restful and replenishing.

  2. Give a financial gift so that we can continue to provide lodging at no cost to the pastor.  The cost for Practical Shepherding to have a pastor stay two nights and three days at The Shepherd’s House is between $750 - $850.  Help us fund this work one pastor at a time.

The 17th century manor house was built in 1611 by the wealthy Spencer family, and its long and fascinating history has left an indelible mark on the fabric of the building. The estate has changed hands several times over the centuries, with each successive custodian contributing to its story.
